DAN WILLIAMS at the keyboard of a Linotype Model 31 at the Museum of Printing History, Houston, Texas, USA.
Dan is struggling with a broken assembler belt, having to catch the matrices and place them in the assembler by hand.
The video is over seven minutes long with a narration by Dan.
He is making multiple castings of the same line, and as he does so he describes some of the problems that can happen.
These problems include the machine overheating, slugs becoming poorer in quality and the "Back Squirt."
He goes on to describe the problems with using Monotype metal or Founders type in a linecaster and the problem with buying "Linotype Metal" on eBay.
ROBERT GRIFFITH, who sent in both these videos, seems to be suffering from "Matrix Madness" after a couple of days intense sorting and cleaning!
