Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

Nice atmospheric shot of Linotype operators working on the Waterford News in Ireland.

Looks like a serious potential fire risk to me, especially as smoking at work was almost deemed compulsory in those days!

Typesetters working on linotype machines at the Waterford News in what looks like organised chaos. This newspaper was set up in 1848, and is still going strong as the Waterford News and Star in print and online.

Sure looks messy - for gentlemen operators still wearing ties.

The electrical light rigging is pretty heath robinson.

On the lower right you can see through the frame of the machine, is that a press in the background?

Cheers

John
