QuoteArion Press is the last printing press in the US where books are handmade from start to finish. Using machines and techniques that date back to the 1800s, these books can take years to make and cost up to $10,000 to buy. Set against the tech hub backdrop of San Francisco, this institution helps keep the traditional craft of letterpress printing alive.

This video contains a particularly good view/explanation of the relationship of the pump, mould, and matrix case on the Monotype composition caster.

I did notice, though, at 3:28, how the line of type sort of popped onto the galley in a curve instead of staying in the type channel until the column pusher pushed it onto the galley. This would be the sort of thing that, if I saw it happen regularly, would bug me until I figured out the cause and fixed it!
