Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

A friend of mine saw the movie Park Row and commented on Facebook that it contained a blower machine.

Yes, it would appear to be a Blower!

Here's the full film. The invention of the Linotype scenes start at about the 1 hour 10 minute mark.

Interesting watch!

It is a disguised model 8 Linotype. Note the length of the keyboard, and the handle to wind up to another magazine.

A great film, which I have not previously seen. The fluid camera is astonishing, and there is a credit for "camera movement" à la Hitchcock!

I was also under the impression that it was not a genuine Blower (and the steam blasts were certainly artistic licence). As usual with film-makers' versions of newspaper life lots of it is laughable but in parts this effort comes nearer to the truth than most.

I was shocked, though, to see old Ottmar propping up the bar so early on in the proceedings!
