American Mats on British Machine, Possible?

Andy Taylor poses this question by email:
is it possible to have my Intertype set up to use English and American
Mats,
say two moulds for English and two for American.
The reason being there is such a huge amount of mats/founts available in
the States.
for some unknown reason I get the feeling it's not that simple!
Or would it be easier buying a new C4 and converting that to American.

If you read my previous post, I apologise.

WHAT I DIDN'T REALISE IS THAT ENGLISH MATS ARE A DIFFERENT DEPTH TO AMERICAN MATS.
