storing matrix cases

To store Monotype matrix cases, is quite a job. But in the 60 centimeters wide cupboard above up to 75 matrix cases can be stored.

Rather easy to make, with ample tools and materials.

Small thin wooden strips 13 centimeters long were glued on plates. With interlines up to 4/16" between them.

This cupboard is made to fit 15*15 and 15*17 matrix cases, but when the distance between the boards is widened 1/8 " more it will accomodate 16*17 matrix cases.

A likewise result can be obtained with thinner wooden strips.

The measurements are given in the drawing below:


                               

I have seen other cupboards for Monotype matrix cases, with under each matrix case room for the wedge to be used with that matrix case. However casting with a computer interface...  the need for this becomes obsolete.
