Printle: A Printing Word Game from Metal Type

A man came into Pimpama with this sample. He has cabinets full of these matrices. What they are used for I have no idea. Is it some form of matrix for intaglio printing.

These are patterns for engraving signs with a pantograph. Right-reading.

That was my conclusion, after some internet searches. I have never seen these machines working,

Our local bootmaker/engraver has one of these. Very cool, very manual and great for engraving door signs in Formica.
