The images on this page are from a sales catalogue (circa 1950) produced by the Cobb Shinn Company of Indianapolis. In those days before digital media the company was able to produce a book of their stock illustrations. If a printer, or advertiser, wanted to use an image they would contact the company and would have a stock cut or electrotype made. This would then give them the license to use it in all forms of print media.
Copyright Owner Unknown
Cobb Shinn himself died in 1951 and the company probably folded shortly afterwards. Efforts have been made to try and find a successor to the copyright of the images, all to no avail. The images are, therefore, offered as freeware with no restrictions on their use.
A Note About Image Quality
The pictures on this page are Gif images with small file sizes in order to allow the page to load quickly. The artwork itself is much higher quality and takes the form of a True Type font file with 26 images. This makes the images very easy to use in word processing and DTP applications. It is also possible to make image files from them using a screen capture program.
